A Triple Play!

Oh boy I am just sliding in without much time to spare!   Lisa's Bloggers Challenge is all about color and I do love Brown and Green.  Inspiration Emporium's challenge at the Inspiration Journal is Bring on the May Flowers.  Last and certainly not least, Linda's  CC2#7 challenge is Brushless Watercolor, to be found on page 49 of Tim's fabulous book.  Again, we can't tell you about the technique, but I did it on two neutral backgrounds with a green and a brown color!   Daisy of Eclectic Paperie is offering a very nice $25.00 gift certificate for this week's challenge!  Thank you, Daisy!

The center green flower was done using a two way adhesive tape.  I die cut the flower and removed the protective paper, pressed down some avocado netting (you can see it), using the backing.  Make sure you press this in really well.  I sprinkled my first color of Glitter Ritz (I hate glitter), burnished this and then removed the netting to add my second color of glitter.  The other flowers glassine paper embossed and then I added seed beads.

I can't believe how the time really flies.  My DH took this week off and we have been quite busy, so I was happy to get in the time this AM to work on this!  Hope you all are having a great weekend and thank you so much for stopping by!

Traveling with Tim's 12 Tags

With not much time to spare, I made it for Tim's May 12 Tags of 2012 and Artistic Outpost's "Traveling."
All stamps are from Artistic Outpost's Route 66 collection, including the cactus and eat button!  Tim always says it is OK to improvise and so I did!  Did not have pattern tissue paper, so inked up and distress regular tissue wrap.  Did some collage stamping on the tissue paper and then adhered to the tag, then stamped the Motorcycle.  For the button, I had an over sized brad type thing and removed the prongs.  Stamped the Map and then the Eat, cut out with a circular die (right size - so cool).  To fit inside the opening, I also cut an additional grunge piece.  For the word, I used several coats of UTEE.

The cactus was stamped and cut out on grunge paper and again several coats of UTEE.  The little rocky grassy stuff under the cactus is part of the stamp.  After I cut this out, I did little cuts with scissors to break it up and give it a somewhat grass texture.  I also colored this with some green markers and little highlights of green Opalite ink.  It actually as a grassy rock desert kind of look!

With Memorial Weekend fast approaching, I need to make out my BBQ list.  Whatever you plans are for the weekend, I hope it is a wonderful one!  Thank you for stopping by to have a visit!

Stencils & Masks at Frilly and Funkie

Marjie is hosting this newest challenge and now the Funkie team is up to bat!  For all the details, please check out Frilly and Funkie and of course while there, you will feast your eyes on some great inspiration!
For my tag, I used the newest Seasonal Distress Ink colors and aren't they lovely!  Now I don't go to bright that often, but I just loved how these inks worked together.  These are available in Linda's store as well as the reinkers and at a great price.  I cut my own masks from Tim's Sewing Room and Movers and Shapers.  Placed them on the tag I cut from Manila Card Stock and then did the inking thing with all three new colors.  Did a little random stamping and then carefully removed my masks.  I then used the negative mask areas to ink some color and stamp inside the masked objects.  I really liked how that turned out!  I cut out three buttons and inked with the three colors and embossed as I wanted an extra layer of interest.  The plan was to mount these on chipboard, but I forgot.  Once these were punched through and tied, it was not going to happen!  Added a few sewing themed embellishments to finish this off.  I have a long time friend and we once sewed together at a shop, so I think I will send this off to her.

I do hope you will join us at F&F.  Someone will win a $15.00 gift certificate to the Funkie Junkie Boutique and another design team favorite will receive a Winner's Badge.  Currently there is also a Pre-Memorial Day sale and everything is an additional 10% off the already below MSRP!

Have a fabulous week and as always, thank you for stopping by!

CC2C #6

This #6 challenge is really exciting for me as two of my favorite Lindas' are involved!  Linda from the Funkie Junkie Boutique, who I also happen to be on her Frilly and Funkie design team, is sponsoring Linda's CC2C #6 challenge with a $25.00 gift certificate!  WooHoo!  This challenge is all about Tim's techniques from his new book, so I can't tell you what all I did.  Turn to page, 38 to the "Tissue Wrap Collage" technique!
The stamp I used for my background is a leaf stamp from Stampscapes.  The Paint Dabbers of choice were Copper and Espresso.  Added little bits of glitter and beads and some Rock Candy Crackle Paint here and there.  Another fun tag!
Covered with Rock Candy Stickles
Currently at the Funkie Junkie Boutique, Linda is offering a Pre-Memorial Day Sale with an additional 10% off her already below MSRP, so go take a look!  Also the Frilly and Funkie current challenge is starting the second week on Wednesday with the Funkie side (that is me) and it is all about Stencils and Masks, so stop by and play along!

Well I hope all of you are having a great start to this week!  Many thanks for taking the time to visit today!

Steampunk!

It is "Steampunk" all the way at Fashionable Stamping Challenges and the design team has some punky inspiration for your viewing pleasure!  There is always a little prize from Cottage Crafts, so won't you join us for a new stamping adventure in the world of Steampunk?
When I started my DT tag, I realized that I don't have a large selection of "Steampunk" stamps, but Tim Holtz came to the rescue!  The tag background was Distressed Inked with Age Mahogany, Rusty Hinge, Weathered Wood and Tea Dye, then I stamped the background with Black Archival and embossed it with a large Sizzix gear embossing folder.  Inked over the raised areas with Vintage Photo, Distressed the edges and inked with Walnut Stain.  I inked another piece of manila paper with the same colors and stamped the guys with Black Archival, fussy cut those boys and did the same inking with a piece of tissue paper, torn the edges and shaded with Walnut Stain.  The metal pieces were colored with Terra Cotta and Ginger alcohol inks.  I added a few old watch gears and chain with Glossy Accents.

Since Simon Says Stamp and Show "Anything Goes" is still going, so will this tag!

Thank you so much for stopping by today and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Folder Embossed Backgrounds!

It is my turn to do a Saturday Step X Step at Frilly and Funkie, so hop on over and tell me what you think.  There are more photos and all the details as well.  I did my Friday Focus a couple of weeks ago and other than that, this doing tutorials is all new to me.  But new is good and that is what keeps the mind going!  For this I did a couple of backgrounds using alcohol inks, dabber paints and inks.  This is going to be a B-Day card for that hubby of mine!  So hard to keep this and all the activity under wraps!  Ha!Ha!
This traveling guy, who will also go visit Simon Says Stamp and Show  "Anything Goes."

I am so excited that Linda's Funkie Junkie Boutique is the proud sponsor of this week's CC2C #6 and the lucky winner will just so enjoy their shopping experience!  Now that is cool!   Linda is always adding new items to her store and is carrying a nice supply of Ranger items, so check in often!

Wishing all of you a wonderful weekend and thank you for visiting and commenting!
