Triple Play Challenge!

We are now at the 12th week of the Compendium of Curiosities over at Studio L3. Linda had us open our books to page 44 to do Chipped Enamel! Now I will say that I was not real enthused to do this one, because I did not think "the process" was very attractive. Once I actually did it, I liked the look! Now my color selection was limited, so I made do with what I had. Thanks again Linda for the push to go through each and every technique in the book! You are awesome!!!

Simon Says Stamp and Show wants layers this week, so I layered some paper, which was die cut on the top and bottom with TH "On the Edge." I think the flowers also count as layers along with the butterflies! The designer paper is from Tim Holtz "Lost and Found."

Louise at Tag Tuesday is looking for butterflies this week. I used the three step process of Kitchen Sink Stamps and then clear embossed to kind of blend in with the Chipped Enamel. BTW, this is the first time I did these butterflies and the finished pieces are quite nice! No one really likes to cut out items, but I wanted extra "Layers." All was finished off with my favorite embellishment - Pearls!
Sure hope all of you are having a wonderful week! Thanks so much for the visit!

Compendium of Curiosities Challenge 11 / Simon Says Stamp and Blog - Tim Holtz

This challenge combo is for Studio L3 and Simon Says Stamp and Show. Our "Leader of the Pack" (that would be Linda) has taken us to page 36 of the Compendium of Curiosities and we are doing "Blended Batik." Now SSSS has us with the theme of "Anything... Lord Tim of Holtz" inspired. So you can see why I thought I would make this a double duty combo take! The only thing not "Tim" would be the pearls, button and ribbon. The sentiment is a actual magnet. These were made with someone in mind who is currently going through her own challenge. It was my hope to encourage some positive thought. I hope it works in more ways than one!

It is always my pleasure to have you visit and comment on my blog. And a huge thank you to those who decide to follow. It is always so exciting to see a new face!

Simon Says Stamp and Show and Tag Tuesday!

Another double duty challenge piece for Tag Tuesday and Simon Says Stamps and Show. Louise told us no paper for the tag and Simon Says has us going Wendy Vecchi style. So here is my take on both. I cut out my design on a saved cardboard shirt shaper (?) and added double sided adhesive. Cut out the shape with and old pair of DH Levi's and that toped the cardboard. Then with part of the denim, I add again double sided adhesive and there went an old pair of curtains! On the empty spaces, I added glitter. The flowers were then again added to grunge paper to add a little dimension. Yes, it would have been far easier to just ink and stamp on the grunge!!  The window frame and leaves are stamped with "Love" from TH stamps. The bird was punched and stamped! Wow, that sounded pretty violent to me! BTW, my bird Fred turned 23 on the 16th and that is very old for a Patagonia!! The denim house was outlined in a bronze marker. I have never done "Wendy" style and don't have any of her products, so was very far out of my comfort zone with this one.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a wonderful evening!

Compendium of Curiosities Challenge Week 10

Our wonderful leader, Linda aka Studio L3, has taken us on a ride using Distress Stickles! The Distress Stickles I used are Scattered Straw, Peeled Paint and Rock Candy! Pretty much I added Distress Stickles to everything, but the tag and bling. The "Family" letters are punched and cut from Tim Holtz Lost and Found Paper, the die cut is TH Regal Crest, I fragmented an old 1963 family photo for the "Family Crest." The crest was embossed with of course one of TH folders. The zipper trim is even stickled!! Once I was done and put it all together, I realized I did not use one stamp!!!

Isn't Linda awesome for taking us on a weekly adventure? I am also so excited to have been the lucky winner for week 9. Huge thanks to Linda and Daisy. As soon as I hear from Daisy I will be going on a shopping spree!  Now that is cool!

Wishing you all a wonderful week. Your most kind comments are always appreciated.

Compendium of Curiosities Challenge Week Nine and Simon Says Stamp!

We are looking a week "9" and page 42 for a crackling experience over at Studio L3! Linda each week takes us on a new adventure and some adventures are more enjoyable than others! This one for me, was one of the others!! Now I have done a ton of crackling, from decorative painting, plates and old beat up furniture. I have used numerous crackle products from single step to multi steps. My Distress Crackle is new and just opened for this lesson. It sounds like I am whining, doesn't it?? Anyone have some cheese?  I am going to practice with this medium. However I got to the point of needing to do other things, so it is what it is and that is all she is writing! Oh the "LARGE" butterfly is another one of the new (not released) Sizzix dies! I wish I could have done her more justice! She was cut out on TH designer paper and you really can't see the background!!! The flowers are grunge paper. All in all, it was still fun and I think overall the card came out ok!  Also am going to send this off to Simon Says Stamp for their Things with Wings Challenge, which I just read about on Lisa's blog!

The jar is a recycled plastic lotion container that I did a crackle job on.  The leaves and rose petals are from my garden.  The secretary desk was a piece of junk I picked up for $35 and took it a part to unwarp it and then crackled it!

Hope all of you are having a wonderful day!  Thank you for the visit!  It always makes the blog so happy!!

My Creative Spirit!!

Cindy Adkins is having a creative challenge!  Now it can be anything your little heart desires!  Creativity comes in many forms and what I like so much about this challenge, is that we will be able to see some of the other elements we put our heart and souls into.  I love to cook and have been told by many that I am really good at it!  Now I don't cook nearly as big or fancy as I did years ago, but still have to do something just a little extra fancier!

This was done for an appetizer lunch before the Christmas big dinner! I think I spent as much time on the snacks as the dinner!  I am hoping so much to get to the point to remodel my kitchen.  The tile is over 30 years old!
The little snacks were Spinach and Artichoke dip, Humus, Shrimp Cocktail, Stuffed Mushrooms, Chicken Sausage Skewers, Olives and assorted crackers and veggies. Thanks for visiting the other creative side of me and Bon Appetite!

GC62 and PDCC41 Challenges

This tag is playing double duty today at Gingersnap Creations and The Play Date Cafe! For the Spicy Supply Challenge - Markers, any type of markers! The pasta, meatballs, bowl, serving platter, hat band, cuff, pants and shoes were colored with SU markers! PDCC41 has chosen Italian colors! The first thing that came to mind was using "Mr. Chef" and I went online to print out a map of Italy. The map was stamped on and then cut, added to give a little dimension on his coat and hat. A separate chef was also cut out (including mustache). We did lose one curl and had to marker it in!!! All stamps and markers are Stampin Up. The tag background was done with Distress Inks.

It is a pleasure to have a visit with you!  Many thanks for taking the time to comment!

I won at Glitterbug Studios!

Theresa of Faerie Moon Creations sent me a delightful e-mail this AM. I am one of the lucky winners of a giveaway Theresa posted on July 28th and I can't tell you how excited I am. This is my wonderful and stunning win from Tracey at Glitterbug Studios! Is it not awesome or what??  I love it Tracey!

Thank you Tracey and Theresa! You have certainly made my day! If you have not visited their blogs, please do so! Since I started to actually blog, I am amazed at the wonderful and talented sites and people out there.

Wishing all of you a most delightful day!

Tag Tuesday "Mannequin Template."

Today at Tag Tuesday the challenge is to use a mannequin template, which I used pinking shears to cut out. Both my Mom and I use to sew and recently I have been thinking about taking her old little sewing cabinet and going through it. Let's just say that this challenge encouraged me to take this out of my garage and look through it after six years. Kind of a bittersweet day. The items out of her basket/cabinet are the rhinestones around the neck, the netting with the metallic hearts and maybe flowers over the mannequin, the pearl lace trim at the waistline, the ruffled lace at the bottom, the detailed metal button and large safety pin.

I did the "Antique Glimmers" technique from the Technique Junkies. The background stamp is from Lost Coast Designs and I guess I kind of did a collage with that. Did not want it to go in one direction. I would have added buttons, but there were not any and I wanted to to have Mom's stuff! Here is a button close up.

Thank you for popping on over and as always, your comments are deeply appreciated! Have a wonderful evening!

Compendium of Curiosities Challenge Week Eight

So today we get down and grungy at Linda's on page 39 of the Compendium of Curiosities! I had no mishaps, so I am thinking I must have missed something. There is plenty of inking and just a touch of stamping, in fact I used 10 inks to achieve the colors I wanted. The background paper (SU) was an afterthought. The birds had already been inked and I was not sure how I wanted to place them and then came across the perfect colored background paper. Then I remember the lovely brown lace trim! The perch is off of a climbing rose. The birdhouse is a Sizzix die, in which I cut two roofs for more dimension. The birds are more of those new not released Sizzix dies and I just love them. I cut out an extra wing again for more dimension. Pearls were used for the eyes. This was another fun project! It did take 3 1/2 hours from what am I going to do to completion. Is this normal???

I forgot to add the envelope I made to go along with the card!  May you have a fabulous week! Thank you for taking the time to visit and comment.
